FAQ: Is Independent Living at Pennswood Village a Good Value?

Posted on December 5, 2017 in Frequently Asked Questions

When researching your senior living options, it’s important to take into consideration the lifestyle and financial implications of each. By completing a side-by-side comparison and cost-benefits analysis, you’ll be able to accurately compare the differences between living in your current house and choosing to live at a retirement community like Pennswood Village.

Armed with this information, you can use it to your advantage when it comes to making other retirement plans, like how you wish to spend both your money and your time. Do you want to make travel plans? Spend more time with your family? Devote more time to volunteering, a hobby or your career? All of this is up to you!

If you haven’t yet experienced what it’s like to live a maintenance-free retirement lifestyle, we invite you to come visit for a personal tour, so that you can judge the value of community living for yourself. And before you visit, think about these few areas when considering your retirement living options.

Services and Amenities

Part of the monthly service package at Pennswood Village covers the cost of campus services and amenities, like campus and home maintenance, dining services, the wellness center, WiFi, entertainment opportunities, scheduled transportation, 24/7 security, housekeeping and much more.

Consider the total cost for each of these services in your current home, and compare that combined cost to the monthly service fee at Pennswood. Because the monthly fee covers everything from your home and utilities to all amenities, it’s often a lower monthly cost than what many typically pay for in their current house.

A Cost-Effective Plan for the Future

Another value of living at a Continuing Care Retirement Community is the Life Care contract that allows you priority access to future health care services, including personal care and skilled nursing right here on our campus. As you age, if your needs are to ever change, you will be able to get the health services you require and your monthly service fee will remain stable, providing support, financial stability and peace of mind throughout your retirement.

If the Life Care contract isn’t what you’re looking for, Pennswood Village also offers Fee-for-Service contacts that allow you to pay only for the health care services you need. You can read more about this type of contract here.

The Value of Wellness

It’s hard to put a price on wellness, and at Pennswood Village, wellness is viewed as invaluable. Community living can improve each of the seven dimensions of wellness: physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, environmental and vocational.

Without the responsibility of maintaining a house, you’ll have more time and opportunities to exercise and socialize, pursue passions or further a career, volunteer, worship and meditate, or anything else you choose to do—offering the greatest value of all.
