Living the One-Bedroom Lifestyle
Take a moment to reflect on the rooms you use in your house every day. You probably start each day waking in your bedroom, moving to the bathroom to get ready and then into the kitchen for breakfast. Maybe you spend some time in your living room watching a bit of TV or reading the paper before venturing out into your community for events, activities and errands.
Now also take a moment to reflect on the number of daily chores and regular maintenance you must do, like vacuuming and dusting, yard work, cooking, cleaning and laundry. Would you say that these chores and responsibilities only apply to the spaces you’re using in your house? What if someone was available to take care of these excess responsibilities for you instead?
Imagine if you no longer had to take care of these duties yourself, and only cared for the spaces you use on a daily basis, like your bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living area. Imagine that you also had services to help you take care of these spaces, with just one phone call? How much time would that leave you with to do the things you truly want to do?
For Pennswood Village resident Toni Sullivan, it made a large difference in her day-to-day life.
“I was living in a townhouse before, but I’m using the same rooms here that I used in my townhouse,” says Toni about her one-bedroom apartment home. “The living room, my bedroom, my bathroom and kitchen. It serves my needs. It’s comfortable and takes less care.”
With more time to spend on hobbies, activities, events, trips, friends and exercise, your overall wellness could improve, leaving you happier and healthier. Plus, with a community of like-minded, welcoming peers, there’s always a social opportunity waiting to be taken advantage of.
“I’m living where I have a lot of friends. The townhouse was in a neighborhood where people work and aren’t around. I have friends here, and activities,” adds Toni. “I use the pool, play volleyball once a week, work in the library, play mahjong, and I’m in the book club.”
Toni’s advice to future Pennswood residents is to, “bring only what you’re going to use. If I’m not using it, then why have it?”
As for cooking and cleaning up, Toni leaves that to the Pennswood dining staff a few times a week.
“I appreciate all the services and activities here at Pennswood,” she says.
