Meet Dan Murray: Pennswood Village’s Newest CEO

Pennswood Village CEO Dan Murray
It’s official! Dan Murray is now the Chief Executive Officer of Pennswood Village! Dan began his journey as CEO at Pennswood at the beginning of January 2018 and continues to settle in this month, energetically moving about the community, meeting every resident, staff member and committee.
Dan was originally attracted to the community because of the residents who call it home. “Pennswood has a real sense of community,” says Dan. “It’s warm, caring and supportive. It has a great culture to live in and work in and learn in.”
Before Dan came to Pennswood Village, he was the CEO of Friends Village at Woodstown for more than a decade. Friends Village is also a Quaker Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), located in southern New Jersey. During his time there, he helped the community grow from a nursing care-only community into a full CCRC by supporting the community through a significant expansion.
Dan also plays a large role in the Quaker senior services community by serving as Chairman of the Board of Friends Services for the Aging (FSA). His education includes a bachelor of science in accounting and a master’s of business administration with a focus on health administration. He is also a licensed nursing home administrator.
Dan’s experience, professional background and energetic personality make him a great addition to the Pennswood community.
“In my first year, I really want to get to know the community and understand where I can support it and add to its great legacy. I hope to help carry it forward and make it as successful as it has been over the past 35 plus years,” he says.
Most importantly, residents, staff and prospective residents should know that Dan leads with an open-door policy. “I’m always willing to listen, and the best ideas truly come from the people that live and work here — both through shared experiences and from conversation,” he adds.
Dan is a Philadelphia native who currently lives in Maple Glen with his wife Theresa, and his three children, Katherine, Daniel and Rachel.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet Dan yet, stop by his office or introduce yourself when you see him out in the community. You can also meet Dan at one of his Fireside Chats in Penn Hall, which are listed in the Pennswood Bulletin.
