“By painting plants and animals at eye level, I hope that people will learn to slow down, look closer and really SEE…As climate change continues, I will be documenting what my small corner of the world is losing and what it is gaining.”
For Vi Herron, the world around us is incredibly complex and interconnected. Living in the rich ecosystem of the Pocono mountains, nature is at her doorstep. Native plants and animals, invasive and exotic plants, and some domesticated animals, provide the sources of inspiration for her work.
Her paintings are masterfully executed in gouache and transparent watercolor. She is known for her gouache pieces which capture exquisite details, rendered to perfection. Her lively watercolors and expressive drawings give us a sense of life in motion.
She is a nationally recognized artist and her work is in both private and corporate collections worldwide. She has been recognized as a Signature Member by the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society. She has won numerous awards. Most recently her piece, “North American Toad”, won Margaret M. Martin award at the American Watercolor Society’s 2026, 159th International Exhibit.
