BUCKS COUNTY RETIREMENT COMMUNITY PARTNERS WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY IN MISSION TO PROVIDE AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Pennswood Village donates used materials to assist Habitat for Humanity in raising funds to provide local families with affordable housing.
November 15, 2016: Newtown, PA — Pennswood Village, an established Bucks County retirement community, has partnered with ReStore of Langhorne, a Habitat for Humanity store that sells used home goods, furnishings, appliances, cabinets, and more to raise money in order to create affordable housing for local families. When Pennswood Village renovates a residence on its campus, the gently used cabinets and appliances are donated to ReStore where they can be given a new life.
“Pennswood was one of our first partnerships, and it’s been a wonderful partnership,” says Tracy Mulvaney, manager of the ReStore in the Langhorne Square Shopping Center.
“We’re always looking for ways to give back to the community, and this partnership seemed like the perfect fit,” says Jennifer Doone, Director of Marketing at Pennswood Village. “Instead of filling landfills with our gently used materials, we can repurpose them to benefit the greater community.”
Proceeds from items sold at ReStore go directly to Habitat for Humanity’s projects, meaning they are one step closer to building the next home. ReStore accepts donations of furniture, housewares, clothing, books, electronics, cabinets, appliances, building materials, paint, and more. Those items are then sold to a variety of customers, including building contractors and homeowners, as well as hobbyists and decorators.
“[Pennswood is] an incredible community of people who like to give back, and that is what we are about. Our culture is about empowering families and being connected to the community. This relationship with Pennswood is helping to fulfill that connection,” says Mulvaney.
