NATIONAL COUNCIL OF CERTIFIED DEMENTIA PRACTITIONERS RECOGNIZES CHARLES WHITLOCK OF PENNSWOOD VILLAGE FOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Philadelphia local awarded Distinguished Educator of the Year Certificate for work in Dementia and Alzheimer’s education.

Newtown, PA – Philadelphia local Charles Whitlock has been recognized by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) with a Distinguished Educator of the Year Certificate for his achievements in teaching, training, and advising other healthcare professionals on Dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Whitlock currently works as Director of Resident Life at Pennswood Village, a Newtown retirement community, and is a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer. He earned his certification in 2014 through the NCCDP, which allows him to teach an approved course that covers topics from diagnosis and prognosis, to treatment, symptoms, spiritual care, and more. The course allows participants to apply for the credential of Certified Dementia Practitioner.

He has presented this course many times at Pennswood Village in the past, providing specialty training to the staff who work there, from all departments, including nursing, resident life, rehabilitation, housekeeping, communications and others. Of the 100 staff members who have taken the course, 75 have applied and received this credential.

Whitlock’s credentials include Certified Dementia Practitioner; Licensed Clinical Social Worker; Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer; Military Service Members, Veterans and their Families Clinical Social Worker; Clinical Social Worker in Gerontology.

He has proved to be an invaluable asset to the Pennswood community, and his recognition by the NCCDP confirms his significant contributions in educating others about Dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Whitlock currently lives in Philadelphia with his wife and two daughters.
