Pennswood Art Gallery Features Exhibition by Deborah Eater
The Pennswood Art Gallery will feature an exhibition by award-winning collagist Deborah Eater. The exhibition opens on Sunday, November 17, 2019 with an illustrated talk in Penn Hall from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a wine and cheese reception from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. The Pennswood Art Gallery is located in Pennswood Village, 1382 Newtown-Langhorne Road, in Newtown, PA. The events, as well as the exhibition, are free and open to the public.
What appear to be tiny brush strokes enlivening her abstract images are actually tiny bits of paper collected from magazines and catalogs, carefully de-acidified to last a lifetime. Eater draws inspiration from ordinary things. She says, “The most compelling line of all to me is the curve of a road winding out if sight, hinting at things to come.” Subtle manipulation of her original inspiring objects lead to the arcs, spirals and curving lines that she returns to time and again in her work.
A former psychologist and teacher, Eater studied drawing and painting at Fleisher Art Memorial. She lives in suburban Philadelphia and teaches collage and mixed media in Langhorne, PA.
