Pennswood Village Board of Directors Names Dan Murray as Chief Executive Officer Effective, January 2018
October 12, 2018. Newtown, PA: The Board of Directors of Pennswood Village, together with the CEO Search Committee, is pleased to announce that Daniel J. Murray has been selected as the next Chief Executive Officer of Pennswood Village, effective January, 2018. Dan will succeed Benjamin Hoyle, who last year announced his retirement after 22 years of service to Pennswood Village, including four years as CEO.
Pennswood Village is a Quaker-directed Continuing Care Retirement Community for people age 65 and over located in Newtown, PA in Bucks County.
“The Pennswood Village Board of Directors looks forward to welcoming Dan into the Pennswood Village Community as our next CEO,” said David Satterthwaite, Chair of the Pennswood Village Board of Directors. “The pace of change in Senior Living is exponential and we look forward to creating a future under Dan’s leadership that will utilize his ability to translate vision and strategy into results that will best serve our current residents, as well as those considering Pennswood in the future.” David continued, “I would like to thank our Board and CEO Search Committee, as well as the many residents and staff who played a part in reviewing a number of impressive candidates during the extensive search process. Together we have chosen a leader that is visionary and accomplished, and who will be able to energize, inspire, and connect with Pennswood staff, residents, families, and other important stakeholders.”
Dan is currently CEO of Friends Village at Woodstown, also a Quaker Continuing Care Retirement Community, in Southern New Jersey. He has served in senior leadership positions there, including as CFO, for the last 14 years. He also serves on the Board of Friends Services for the Aging (FSA) and as the organization’s Chair. Dan has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration with a focus on Health Administration, both from the University of Scranton. He is also a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.
“Working in a Quaker community for 14 years has given me a great understanding of the benefits of choosing this kind of community for retirement living,” said Dan. “The collaboration between residents, staff, and Board is something that I appreciate, admire, and will continue in my new role at Pennswood Village. Pennswood is a highly dynamic community and I am humbled to be tasked with leading Pennswood into its next chapter.”
“I would like to congratulate Dan as he transitions into his new role at Pennswood. I have worked with Dan through FSA for a number of years and I know that Pennswood will continue to innovate and flourish under his direction,” said Ben Hoyle.
Dan is a resident of Maple Glen, PA in neighboring Montgomery County where he lives with his wife, Theresa, and his three children.
