November 15, 2017. Newtown, PA – The Pennswood Village Board of Directors has established the Pennswood Village Foundation to serve as the philanthropic arm of the senior living community, located in Newtown, Bucks County. Today, the Chair of the Pennswood Village Board of Directors David Satterthwaite; the President of the Pennswood Village Residents Association Leslie Wendel; and the Chair of Hospice Care by Pennswood Lance Mervine, gathered together with members of the organization’s Stewardship Committee to sign the Articles of Incorporation.

“Pennswood Village has a long and rich tradition of philanthropy,” said Ben Hoyle, Pennswood’s CEO. “Throughout our history, our residents, families, board, staff, and other stakeholders have contributed generously to all of our fundraising efforts. In the past giving opportunities at Pennswood were offered through a variety of different organizations and a variety of different funds. The establishment of the Pennswood Foundation will enable us to integrate our fundraising efforts so that our generous donors can better meet their philanthropic goals and Pennswood can better meet the needs of the various organizations that depend on this generosity under the Pennswood Village umbrella.”

Susan Abtouche, currently Pennswood Village’s Director of Development will serve as the Foundation’s Executive Director. “A donation to Pennswood Village changes lives, makes a difference, and builds community,” says Susan. “A donor’s gift can support residents who have outlived their financial assets, contribute to the educational advancement of our staff members, remember a loved one, or help enhance the financial strength of our community. People’s reasons for giving are numerous and the establishment of a Foundation to integrate donors and their wishes will help us carry out our Quaker Guiding Principles.”

“Pennswood Village’s Stewardship Committee has been integral in the development and founding of the Pennswood Village Foundation,” said Nancy Morrill, Clerk of the Stewardship Committee and Pennswood Board Member. “I would like to congratulate my fellow committee members for all of their hard work and dedication.”

The Stewardship Committee Members are: Nancy Morrill, Clerk; Susan Abtouche; Bob Anderson; Delia Dandridge; Jennifer Doone; Helen Greven; Michael Griffin; Ben Hoyle; Cindy Johnson; Paul Keenan; Linda Krause; Harriet Maneval; David Satterthwaite; Leslie Wendel; and Bruce Woodger.
